Motion in Quadrants for Kate Vrijmoet

I’ve been working on some interactive audio for Kate Vrijmoet, an artist with a gallery in Seattle’s Tashiro Kaplan building. If you’re in the area come and see/hear how the piece turned out.

This is a screenshot of my side of things, the interactive audio. In practice, the top left quadrants will be filled with video from a camera with a wide angle lens hanging above the space. The four larger rectangles in the center will show when computation is being done with input from the video. If that sounds vague, you’ll have to come check it out in person this Thursday!

Friends of the Art Lending Library,
I wanted to let you know about an exciting opportunity to support growth of the Art Lending Library’s artists and work.  One of our supporters, Carrie Ferrence, has offered to host a Creative Session to explore the potential of expanding our reach, seeking sustainable financial options, and developing strategic partnerships in the community.  She is doing this as part of her second year MBA program at the Bainbridge Graduate Institute.
A Creative Session is essentially a guided idea and brainstorming dialogue that brings together a diverse group of participants to explore a fairly open question…in this case: in what ways might the Art Lending Library build community and strengthen support for art?”.  The key difference between this session and a typical brainstorming discussion is that nobody from the steering committee of the Art Lending Library will attend – so there are no limits to exploring ideas and suggestions.
Carrie is looking for several friends of the Art Lending Library to participate in the Creative Session on:
Mon, Nov 16th  6:00-8:30pm   at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center (room TBD)

Are you interested in helping to envision the future of our work?
Are you dedicated to promoting art and artists in the greater Seattle community?
If so, please contact Carrie directly to communicate your interest in participating.  It does not require that you have any specific experience – just an in interest in supporting our work.  You can reach her at 206-850-8481 or carrie.ferrence@bgi.edu
The meeting is just around the corner – so please make sure to contact her soon!
Thank you so much everyone for your continuing support.

Pam Summa : About

October 19, 2010

About Pam’s book, Groping For Luna

“If Debbie Harry teamed up with Lou Reed to write a romance novel,
it would look something like Pam Summa’s Groping For Luna.”
–Ibbetson Street Press

Guerilla Girl Meets Guitar God: A Comedy of Manners

Like much of chick lit, the characters in Pam Summa’s Groping for Luna are in their late
20s, navigating the turbulent seas of work and love, and the narrative voice is sharp and
comic. But these characters have better things to do than shop. They are creators, not
consumers, making art and making music.

With her debut novel, Harvard editor and ex-printmaker Pam Summa goes behind the
scenes and on the road for a gritty tale of love, loss, and day gigs. Edgy and lyrical,
Groping for Luna is like a heart-wrenching love song that you can dance to.

Groping for Luna is a 280-page original trade paperback, with 15 stamp art illustrations.
Available for $11.99. ISBN: 0-9724752-7-3
